Festival season has started, and it's shaping up to be a landmark stretch for TATINO. Over the next two months, 11 TATINO-supported films will make their world premieres across five major festivals — Locarno, Sarajevo, Venice, Toronto, and San Sebastián — a lineup that reflects the full breadth of what TATINO's labs and residencies have nurtured over the past years.

Spanning four continents, these 11 films come from Canada, Croatia, Chile, Georgia, Germany, Greece, India, Jordan, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden, and are directed by 5 men and 6 women. From intimate family dramas to genre-bending debuts, they represent the range of voices TATINO is proud to nurture — many shaped through First Cut Lab, First Cut+, and our residency programmes along the way.

Here's a closer look at what's premiering, where, and when.

🐆 Locarno Film Festival

  • CONCRETE LAND by Asmahan Bkerat
  • TOMORROW A LONG TIME AGO by Luise Donschen

Locarno is in full swing, and two TATINO films are making their world premieres there. Since its inception, the festival has been home to the most daring, avant-garde, irreverent, and innovative forms of cinema — and that's sure to hold true for these two films:

  • At Semaine de la Critique, CONCRETE LAND by Asmahan Bkerat took part in First Cut Lab Doha. The film follows three generations of a Palestinian Bedouin family in Jordan as they navigate displacement, prejudice, and family tensions with love, humour, and resilience.

  • At Concorso Cineasti del Presente, TOMORROW A LONG TIME AGO by Luise Donschen participated in First Cut Lab Hamburg and First Cut+ Trieste. Set during German reunification in 1990, the film follows Patty as personal loss leads her on a surreal journey through memory, history, and transformation.
