Summer is proving to be an exciting moment, as Pop Up Film Residency will welcome no less than five residencies, across France Slovakia and Italy, with residents coming from Brazil, Iran, Japan or South Africa:
Pop Up Film Residency Projeto Paradiso 2025
A residency in partnership with Projeto Paradiso, dedicated to a Brazilian filmmaker developing his/her/their 3rd or more.

Julia MURAT (Brazil)
for her project WHITE MASKS
A daring auto fictional musical that blends biting satire and personal reckoning about a diverse group of artists who navigate the labyrinth of identity, desire and privilege in contemporary Brazil.
Julia Murat will be hosted in Revine Lago in Italy during the summer 2025 – in cooperation with the Lago Film Festival.
Pop Up Film Residency Japan Film Frontier 2025
Pop Up Film Residency teams up with VIPO to launch its latest initiative, the Pop Up Film Residency Japan Film Frontier. This 2025 residency, aimed to support Japanese filmmakers and giving them the chance to experience a residency outside their home country

Momi YAMASHITA (Japan)
for her project AUTUMN RIPENS
Chie Hayakawa and Momi Yamashita will be both hosted in Paris in the summer of 2025.
The Japan Film Frontier Residency Program, operated by VIPO, aims to nurture the next generation of Japanese filmmakers by providing guidance for international exposure, support for participation in overseas festivals, and opportunities for networking with global industry professionals. This residency offers a unique environment for emerging creators to develop their projects while expanding their international reach.
Pop Up Film Residency Focus CoPro 2025
This residency is open to short filmmakers developing feature debuts highlighted by Festival de Cannes’ Short Film Corner and Rendez-vous Industry by Cinéma de demain.

Dian WEYS (South Africa)
for his project BERGIES
Dian Weys will be both hosted in Bratislava in the summer of 2025.
Pop Up Film Residency CNC 2025
The Pop Up Film Residency CNC 2025, dedicated to supporting Iranian filmmakers in the development of their feature film projects, will welcome two residents, in France:

Sahand SARHADDI (Iran)
for his project WHAT HAS PASSED

Abbas TAHERI (Iran)
for his project DWELLERS OF THE SEA
Sahand Sarhaddi and Abbas Taheri will be hosted in Monbalen (Lot-et-Garonne) and in Paris at the Fondation Fiminco in the summer of 2025, and will work with Philippe Barrière as script consultant.
Organized with the support of Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée (CNC), the Pop Up Film Residency CNC is a tailor-made program held in France over two months. The residency provides a dynamic artistic environment with personalized mentorship and professional exchanges tailored to each project. Committed to empowering singular voices in cinema, this initiative fosters bold storytelling, strengthens global artistic dialogue, and amplifies diverse perspectives in contemporary filmmaking.
Pop Up Film Residency Emerging Producers 2025
The Pop Up Film Residency Emerging Producers, organized in partnership with Jihlava IDFF, is designed for European documentary emerging producers. This year's resident is:

Luiza PAIVA (United Kingdom/Brazil)
Producer
Luiza Paiva will be hosted in Bratislava, Slovakia in the summer 2025.
Emerging Producers is an industry flagship project of the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival and the only one of its kind designed for documentary film producers in Europe. A promotional and educational training brings together talented European documentary film producers and provides easy access to information in the field of the audiovisual industry, focusing on creative documentary film and its forms that overlap with fiction film and visual arts, deeper and wider orientation in the film and assistance with establishing contacts with producers from other countries and thus increase the potential of future European co-production projects.
